JCtrans: What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistics company?

Thomas: Selecting one thing as most important is never easy - for anything, let alone logistics. However, logistics is about meeting customers’ demands at the right product, time, the right place, the right cost, the right quantity, and in the right condition. To achieve that requires planning - meticulous prior planning and anticipation. Without sufficient planning, which entails scoping a problem and analysis of available courses of action, it would be difficult to satisfy the 6-rights. Anticipation leads to responsive execution in meeting the 6-rights. Customers value responsiveness and that gives you a competitive advantage. So, the single most important rule in logistics is planning.

JCtrans:Would you please talk about the situation of logistic industry in your country?

Thomas: According to the Vietnam Logistics Services Association (VLA), the growth rate of the logistics industry in Vietnam has been around 14% -16% in recent years, with a scale of about $ 40-42 billion / year. Participating in the logistics market of about 3,000 domestic enterprises and about 25 leading logistics groups in the world doing business in many forms. Currently, 30 companies providing transnational logistics services are operating in Vietnam with big names such as: DHL, FedEx, Maersk Logistics, APL Logistics, CJ Logistics, KMTC Logistics ...

According to the World Bank's ranking, Vietnam currently ranks 64 out of 160 countries in terms of logistics development level and 4th in ASEAN after Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. With an annual growth rate of 14-16%, this is one of the fastest growing and most stable service industries in Vietnam in recent years.

In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic had a strong impact on global supply chains, causing the logistics industry to suffer quite heavily. In Vietnam, the revenue of enterprises (DN) in this industry decreased by 10% - 30% on average over the same period in 2019.

The majority of enterprises working in the logistics sector said that because many factories had to suspend operations, the amount of goods needed to move less, leading to the transportation and delivery of goods in the supply chain also decreased, affecting large to the operation of companies providing warehouse services, bonded warehouses, transportation, and customs services. In addition, many businesses also experience a significant reduction in revenue from services for goods exported and imported from epidemic countries such as China, Korea, Japan, Singapore ...

Faced with the current complicated developments, in order to support logistics enterprises, VLA proposed the Government to reduce 50% of corporate income tax for 2020. This reduced tax is considered a part to support businesses to overcome difficulties. business towels in 2020. Delay and reduce contributions to Social Insurance Fund, Unemployment Insurance, and Health Insurance from affected enterprises.

JCtrans:Would you please talk about your strategy to explore foreign market?

Thomas: Normally SCS will consult information on networks. Then we will send greeting mail to them and keep the relationship on a regular exchange.

In addition, every year we will actively attend network meetings to have more opportunities to become closer with partners.

Through the process of formation and development to this day, SCS always tries to maintain long-term relationships with its partners.

JCtrans:What is the reason that makes you become a GCP member to develop your business?

Thomas: Through the process of researching carefully, we have decided to become a member of GCP for two main reasons:

The first is to take advantage of opportunities to obtain information about our partners in SCS's target markets

The second is to ensure the security of the mission of cooperation between SCS and other members in the same network, so choosing GCP is completely reasonable.

JCtrans:How do you maintain a long-term cooperation relationship with your clients?

Thomas: In order to maintain a long-term partnership, there are many factors, of which the most important factor that SCS prioritizes is trust. Always comply with the agreements between the two parties, giving agents absolute confidence in the capabilities and people of SCS.

Besides, it is necessary to keep in regular contact, to help customers enthusiastically when they need their support. The most important thing is to be able to be friends with customers so that not only in terms of work but also in daily life we can still support customers.
