Svetlana Mackevica: Transocean Latvia SIA is a modern maritime logistics company, established in 2003. The company is located in Riga, Latvia having branch offices in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and Russia. We provide wide range of transportation services as container, road, air, RO-RO and project cargo transport, tank-container logistics. Transocean is official representative of following international shipping lines: ONE (Ocean Network Express), NYK Ro-ro, ACL RoRo. We are agents for Yusen Logistics.

JCtrans: What do you think is the most important thing to run a logistics company?
Svetlana Mackevica: Logistic is very complex and it’s very hard to define what is the most important – there are many factors, but in my opinion it is the well trained company staff with an efficient management and well-defined company strategy.  

JCtrans: Would you please talk about the situation of logistic industry in your country?
Svetlana Mackevica: The logistic industry has become less and less predictable due to COVID-19. Extreme increase of freight rates, equipment demand, lack of space, congestions in shipping segment and same chaos in the air industry affecting our market and make us in search of alternative delivery options for our customers. 

JCtrans: Would you please talk about your strategy to explore foreign market?
Svetlana Mackevica: As the first step we do a market research to understand the country we want to establish our business in. There are many essential factors like politics, religious, economy, culture differences which could affect the business and the way it should be run in particular country.

JCtrans: What is the reason that makes you become a GCP member to develop your business?
Svetlana Mackevica: It is very important to have reliable partners, within JC Trans network platform, especially nowadays due COVID-19 impact on whole logistic industry.
